Lysbeth Cohen - author and journalist
Lysbeth Cohen was born in London and came to Australia as a small child. She was educated at Sydney Girls' High School and graduated from Sydney University and married a paediatric Surgeon Douglas Cohen.

A prolific writer, she authored several books ranging from biographies to medical histories and biblical research, and included biographies of Dr Margaret Harper, Elizabeth Macquarie: Her Life and Times The Tabernacle (Great Synagogue), and Beginning with Esther, a book on Jewish women in New South Wales. Her short stories and essays appeared in a number of anthologies and collections. She also wrote hundreds of feature stories, articles, book reviews, and theatre and music reviews.
From 1967 she produced a regular feature in the Australian Jewish News . She also edited the Bulletin of the National Council of Jewish Women from 1979to 1985, and conducted workshops and tutoroals in creative writing for several organistions. Her cultural interests included art, music, theatre and ballet as well as tennis, sailing and surfing. She also travelled extensively in Australia and overseas.
